Third Scrap Drive Wiring and GS23 Programming

This reference covers the control wiring and GS23 parameter settings for a third scrap VFD. Complete the wiring inspection before applying power or programming either drive.

Electrical safety: Only a qualified technician should work inside the electrical panel. Follow the site lockout/tagout procedure, verify that hazardous voltage is absent, and use the approved electrical drawings for the machine. The connections below supplement—not replace—the machine schematic.

Control Wiring

  • Connect R1 on DR31 to FWD on DR32.
  • Connect R10 on DR31 to DCM on DR32.

Check terminal labels at both ends, conductor security, and continuity before restoring power.

Program Drive 31

  • 02.13 = 1 — sets multifunction output R1 to indicate when the drive is running.

Program Drive 32

  • 00.20 = 7 — selects speed control from the potentiometer or the keypad arrow buttons.
  • 00.21 = 1 — selects external terminals as the operation-command source.
  • 00.22 = 1 — selects coast-to-stop operation.
  • 01.12 = 3 — sets acceleration time to 3 seconds.
  • 01.13 = 3 — sets deceleration time to 3 seconds.
  • 09.00 = 32
  • 09.01 = 19.2
  • 09.04 = 14

Verify Operation

Reopen each parameter and confirm that the value was retained. Restore power using the approved procedure, start the system, and verify that DR32 runs only when commanded by DR31. Confirm the correct direction and stopping behavior before returning the conveyor to production.

Factory Reset

Do not factory-reset the drive as a routine troubleshooting step. Parameter 00.02 = 0 restores factory defaults and erases the programmed settings above. If a reset is required, record the current settings first and reprogram every required parameter before operating the equipment.
