Replace and Commission a VC1

Replacing a VC1 requires both a physical installation and software commissioning. The replacement is complete only after the wiring is restored, the correct VC1 is assigned in the Retro C software, firmware is updated, and the associated movement passes a controlled test.
Electrical safety: A qualified technician must lock out the machine and verify that power is off before disconnecting or replacing a VC1.
Before removal
- Record the VC1 name or function shown in the software and note every active fault.
- Photograph the complete VC1, its terminal labels, jumpers, Ethernet cable, encoder connection, VFD wiring, and all field wiring.
- Label conductors that could be confused during reassembly.
- Confirm that the replacement VC1 is the correct model and that Enventek Support has provided any required configuration information.
Replace the VC1
- Lock out the machine and verify that control power is off.
- Disconnect the wiring one connector or terminal group at a time.
- Remove the failing VC1 and install the replacement securely in the same orientation.
- Reconnect every conductor to the same documented terminal and tug-test the connections.
- Inspect the top jumper. Follow VC1 Standard Jumper Removal only when the replacement instructions or Enventek Support require it.
- Reinstall covers and remove all tools from the enclosure.
Configure the software
- Restore power and allow the Retro C software to finish starting.
- Assign the replacement VC1 to the correct machine function using Configure the Software After Replacing a VC1.
- Upgrade the VC1 firmware to the version required by the installed Retro C software.
- Confirm that the VC1 shows connected and that no duplicate assignment or communication warning appears.
Functional verification
- Inputs change correctly on the diagnostic screen.
- Outputs command the intended device and no unintended movement occurs.
- Encoder or position feedback changes in the correct direction.
- The associated axis moves at a controlled speed and returns to position repeatedly.
- All enclosure covers and guards are installed before normal production resumes.

If the replacement VC1 does not connect, do not move wiring by trial and error. Record the software message, VC1 LEDs, firmware version, and clear wiring photos for Enventek Support.
