Linear PickLine Kicker: Disable Homing for Manual Troubleshooting

Use this temporary mode when the Linear PickLine kicker cannot complete homing and Enventek Support needs the mechanism operated manually for diagnosis. Disabling homing does not correct the underlying sensor, encoder, wiring, or mechanical problem.

Restricted use: Manual mode bypasses the normal homing requirement. Keep personnel and lumber clear, use slow and deliberate commands, and do not run automatic production until homing is restored and verified.

Before disabling homing

  1. Stop lumber flow and remove boards from the kicker and conveyor area.
  2. Record the exact homing message and any sensor, encoder, VC1, or VFD warning.
  3. Inspect for an obvious jam, loose part, damaged sensor, or obstructed home target with the machine safely stopped.
  4. Confirm with Enventek Support that manual operation is appropriate for the fault.

Training video

The following video demonstrates how to disable the kicker homing feature and operate the kicker manually:

Manual diagnostic checks

  • Jog only one direction at a time and stop before a mechanical limit.
  • Confirm that displayed position or encoder count changes in the correct direction.
  • Observe the home sensor and verify whether its input changes at the home target.
  • Listen for binding, slipping, impact, or abnormal motor noise.
  • Stop immediately if the kicker moves opposite the command or a person enters the guarded area.

Restore normal operation

  1. Return the kicker to a safe position.
  2. Correct the mechanical, sensor, encoder, wiring, or control problem that prevented homing.
  3. Re-enable the normal homing requirement using the video procedure.
  4. Run a complete homing cycle with the area clear.
  5. Confirm repeatable home position and correct automatic operation with a controlled test board.

Do not leave homing disabled as a permanent workaround. If it still cannot home, contact Enventek Support with the recorded message, input states, and encoder behavior.
