Configure the Software After Replacing a VC1

Overview
Replacing a VC1 requires both a mechanical/electrical replacement and a software configuration. The software must be updated with the new VC1 MAC address so the correct Retro C or Linear PickLine component can communicate with the replacement controller.

Before You Begin
- Record the MAC address from the old VC1 before removing it, if possible.
- Record the MAC address printed on the replacement VC1. Take a clear photo of the label.
- Confirm that all wiring and network connectors have been returned to the correct terminals and ports.
- Make sure the replacement VC1 is powered and has completed its normal startup sequence.
- Keep personnel clear of the equipment. Software configuration may restore the ability to command movement.
The MAC address is a 12-character identifier. Enventek VC1 addresses normally share the same prefix, which makes the final four characters especially important. Enter the address in the format requested by the software and verify every character before saving.
Software Configuration
- Open the saw or PickLine software.
- Open the Repair tab.
- Locate the component controlled by the VC1 that was replaced.
- Open that component’s Settings, then select Basic.
- Locate the VC1 MAC-address field.
- Replace the old MAC address with the address from the new VC1.
- Compare the entered address with the label or photo a second time, then click Save.
- Select Initialize VC1 for the replacement controller.
- Wait for initialization to finish. Do not interrupt power or close the software during this process.
- Restart the software after initialization is complete.
Retro C and Linear PickLine
The same basic workflow applies to Retro C and Linear PickLine systems. The component names shown on the Repair tab will differ. Always choose the specific component whose physical VC1 was replaced; do not copy the new MAC address into multiple components.
Verification
- Open the Check screen and confirm that the replacement VC1 shows connected.
- Confirm that the component no longer shows a communication or disconnected warning.
- Verify that the MAC address displayed in the component settings matches the replacement VC1.
- Clear the equipment area and perform the approved manual or functional test for that component.
- Confirm that feedback, direction, and movement correspond to the selected component. Stop immediately if a different component responds.
If the VC1 Does Not Connect
- Recheck the MAC address for transposed characters, missing characters, or an address entered under the wrong component.
- Confirm that the VC1 has power and normal network-link indicators.
- Confirm that the RJ45 network connectors are fully seated in the same ports used by the previous VC1.
- Repeat initialization only after confirming the saved MAC address and component selection.
- Restart the software once after initialization. Do not repeatedly power-cycle the VC1.
- If the software requests a firmware update or the VC1 remains disconnected, stop and contact Enventek.
Contact Enventek If
- The replacement VC1 has no normal power or network indicators.
- Initialization fails or does not complete.
- The VC1 connects but the wrong component responds.
- A communication warning returns after the software restart.
