Replacing the Scrap Motor

Before You Begin

Safety: Stop the machine, follow the site lockout/tagout procedure, verify that hazardous energy is controlled, and release or secure stored mechanical and pneumatic energy before opening a panel, removing a guard, or adjusting components. Electrical work must be performed by a qualified technician.

Locate the Scrap Motor

  • The scrap motor and gearbox is located on the operator end of the machine. It is behind the enclosure that holds the VFDs for the scrap system.

Rewiring and connecting a new motor

Replacing this motor is fairly simple, there are just 4 bolts that attach it to the gearbox that will need to be removed.

It must be unwired from the flexible “liquid tight” tubing coming from the scrap panel enclosure.

Rewire the motor the same as the previous motor making sure that the motor is wired at 240V and not 480V.
If the wires are numbered for low power (240V wiring) it will be wires 4,5,6 go together with no outside wires. Wires 1 and 7, 2 and 8 and 3 and 9 go together.
Match the incoming wires need to match what was removed.

When reinstalling the new motor make sure that the key doesn’t fall out when loading in the new motor.

Reinsert the four bolts and lock washers in the motor to hold them.

Confirm the Result

After checking all connections and reinstalling covers, restore power through the approved startup procedure. Confirm that the correct device comes online without a disconnected-drive or communication warning, then test its command, direction, and stopping response in a controlled mode.

If the issue remains, record the exact on-screen message, affected component, indicator-light state, and the last change made. Provide those details to Enventek Technical Support; do not repeatedly recalibrate or replace parts without identifying the cause.
