VC1 Status Lights and Startup Diagnosis

VC1 port LEDs provide a quick indication of control power, startup progress, encoder connection, and Ethernet communication. The Encoder port is on the left and the Network port is on the right.

Normal boot sequence

During startup, the orange and green lights on the Encoder port alternate several times. When startup completes, the right amber light settles into a steady pulse, indicating that the VC1 is in run mode.

Network port — right side

  • A continuous green light indicates that the Ethernet link is present.
  • A flickering orange light indicates network communication.
  • The connected network-switch port should also show link and communication activity.

Encoder port — left side

  • During normal program operation, the right amber light flashes or pulses.
  • The left green light normally goes out when the encoder is connected.
  • The left green light is visible when the encoder is unplugged.
  • After a reboot, the green and amber lights alternate during startup.

Diagnostic sequence

  1. Confirm that the VC1 has control power. No LEDs may indicate a 24 V power or wiring problem.
  2. Allow the full boot sequence to finish before judging the pattern.
  3. If the Network green light is off, inspect the Ethernet cable, VC1 connector, and corresponding switch port.
  4. If the link is present but orange activity never flickers, record the software connection status and inspect the network path.
  5. If the Encoder indication is unexpected, lock out the machine and inspect the encoder cable before reseating it.
  6. Compare the pattern with a working VC1 of the same type and record a short video for Enventek Support if it repeats abnormally.

What Correct Looks Like

A healthy VC1 completes the alternating startup pattern, shows a stable network link with activity, and reports connected in the Retro C software. Confirm the associated input, encoder count, and movement at a controlled speed before returning the machine to service.
