Cleaning the Saw Head Slides

Clean saw head slides remove sawdust, resin, and dried lubricant from the slide surface and the pockets behind it. This maintenance is appropriate when contamination is visible or angle movement becomes rough or inconsistent.

Safety: Lock out the machine and verify that the saw head cannot move before cleaning. Wear the personal protective equipment required by the cleaning product’s label and the facility’s procedures. Keep ignition sources away from flammable cleaners.

Materials

  • Enventek-approved cleaning solution, or diesel only when permitted by the facility and Enventek Support.
  • Approved lubricant for the slide.
  • Clean, lint-free rags and a suitable spray applicator.
  • A container or absorbent material to collect runoff.

Cleaning locations

The first image identifies the three areas used during cleaning:

  1. Direct cleaning solution into the pocket behind the slide, marked 1.
  2. Spray upward into the upper slide area marked 2 so the cleaner reaches hidden buildup.
  3. Apply lubricant across the exposed slide surface marked 3. Allow it to flow behind the plate and bolt at the bottom of the slide.

Flush the lower area

The second image shows the lower outlet where the cleaner should drain:

Continue flushing while sawdust or debris is coming out with the liquid. The passage is clean when the fluid draining from the bottom is clear and no additional debris is being carried out.

Reassemble and verify

  1. Wipe away excess runoff and remove all rags, containers, and cleaning tools.
  2. Confirm that guards and covers are secure and the work area is clear.
  3. Remove lockout/tagout according to the facility’s procedure.
  4. Move the affected head through its normal angle range at a controlled speed.
  5. Confirm that travel is smooth and that no binding, abnormal noise, or position error remains.

If the slide remains dirty after repeated flushing, or movement is still rough after cleaning, stop and contact Enventek Support before adjusting the angle calibration or drive components.
